Need for speed

Our world is getting smaller and smaller, and not only due the Internet. Other technological wonders are also playing a major role. One of these are the High-speed rails. Whilst latest development mostly happens in the area of magnetic levitation, the best know high speed trains are in the French TVG series.

Benefits are enormousness. Experiences from Europe show how metropolitan area becomes interconnected by high-speed rails. It might seem odd at first, but there is a perfectly logical explanation. By taking a closer look it’s becomes more simple than one should think.

To maintain a healthy daily life – and especially for families with children – most people need to stay at their home overnight. At least on a regular basis. What the high-speed rails provides, is a possibility to extent the working area while not compromising this need. Mom or dad can have a meeting with the key customer 500 kilometres away and still be able to leave home in the morning and be back in the evening. You might think “Hell this can be done by plane”. Well no, it cannot. And why not then?

With air plain traffic there is a significant overhead in transportation time to the, offend remote located airport together with time spend to get trough the airport, to the gate. On the other hand, train stations are offend more centrally located and and have a lower overhead in pass-through time.

This is of cause only valid for shorter distances, but the effect is clear. Former difficult or even impossible corporation between distant areas becomes an option – and this is how high-speed rail creates connection between distance metropolitan area. Germany is probably the best example.

War of the Giants

Today a computer is not just a laptop or a mobile. Computers are everywhere. Your TV is likely to be one. Your wireless router also. Maybe even your washing machine is – or your oil burner.

Computers are big business. While ARM – with more than one unit sold for each human on earth – without question is the most widespread processor, Intel is dominating the laptop and server market.

So big business causes war – and a silent war is what happening behind the stages. To be able to compete against the highly efficient and power saving processors from ARM, Intel have come up with new versions of the Atom processor, directly designated at the embedded marked – and this is where the war is fought. Who will own your washing machine, your robot cleaner or your TV. Will it be ARM or will it be Intel ? Only future can show.

Peaceful

No, we do not have natural disaster, and no we do not have any lethal animals – and no, we do certainly not have any nuclear weapons or any similar technological threats. Denmark is indeed a peaceful country. But we do have breaking news … (deprecated)

Rockmama

She is the grand old lady in Danish music. Sanne Salomonsen is her name. Take a look at some of the beautiful picture – but be warned. She is old.
